Egemin launches EGV Compact on the European market
15th October 2015
Egemin Automation launches the Egv Compact on the European market. This new type of AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) within Egemins Egv vehicle range will be unveiled to the public at the Logistica trade show in Utrecht, which is held from November 10 to 13. The Egv Compact is a compact yet robust new AGV designed to handle standard-sized loads at higher capacities than the AGCs (Automatic Guided Carts) currently available on the market. Egemin will set the Egv Compact in the market as an add-on to its existing high-grade Egv product line vehicles that are customised for specific applications.
STANDARD OFF-THE-SHELF DESIGN
The Egv Compact is fast and easy to install and is capable of completing many standard moves. Its price gives it a faster ROI than a custom AGV. Since the Egv Compact is built with a heavy-duty welded steel chassis, it’s a robust solution for many applications. As the Egv Compact can be fully integrated with existing or new Egemin Egv systems, it will allow for additions of simple moves to a complex system without requiring additional custom vehicles. The standard off-the-shelf design of the Egv Compact requires no additional engineering. Its turn-around from order to delivery is about 75% faster than that of a custom AGV.
COMPACT FEATURES
The Egv Compact brings simplicity to automated transport movements. Special features required for more complex movements and advanced handling, such as trailer loading, natural target navigation, dynamic guide paths, tilt and side-shift forks, on-board sensors for human-way picking, have been removed from the vehicle concept. This makes it the ideal automated transport solution for standard applications including:
- floor-to-floor transport
- conveyor-to-conveyor transport
- end-of-line transport to staging
- transport from WIP to staging
- tugger train from trailer unloading or for JIT parts delivery to production.
MODULAR VEHICLE CONCEPT
The Egv Compact comes with different optional attachment types. The base Egv Compact design, which will be presented at the Logistica, is a tugger vehicle capable of towing carts up to 4,500 kg. This is about five times the capacity of an AwGC. This basic design can also be fitted with lifting forks in the styles of counterbalance, straddle, narrow, or as a conveyor vehicle with a single or dual roller conveyor.
The Egv Compact was first introduced on the US market in spring this year during the ProMAT trade show. In the meantime two Egv Compact systems with multiple vehicles have been ordered by US customers. Many other projects are in the sales pipeline.
